SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 648 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Conroe Symphony Orchestra on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, which is being celebrated on April 29, 2017; and WHEREAS, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra was established in the summer of 1997 under the leadership of Herb Armentrout, Mary Curtis Taylor, and Mark Multop with the mission of adding to the cultural enrichment of the community and enhancing the quality of life for the Conroe area; and WHEREAS, Since its founding, the organization has grown and now consists of three divisions, the Conroe Symphony Orchestra, the Friends of the Symphony, and the Conroe Symphony Youth Orchestra; its success is due to a group of more than 225 volunteers who work tirelessly to provide support for the presentation of five classical concerts and for such projects as fund-raisers, youth orchestra activities, and community education and outreach programs; and WHEREAS, The orchestra's season includes a mix of classical and popular music performed by a talented group of area musicians and featured soloists; and WHEREAS, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra has become one of the premier community orchestras in the state, and it is truly fitting that this orchestra receive special recognition as it reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend the staff, musicians, and volunteers of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra on their dedication and hard work and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 20th anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the orchestra as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
