| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of the Leadership Athens Class of 2016-2017 |

| 4 | 4 | | for their commitment to the betterment of their community and for |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | their contributions to Henderson County; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Athens is a nine-month program that |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | offers residents the opportunity to become more involved in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | community; participants learn about local resources and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | challenges, and they forge relationships with community leaders |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | so that they might better bring about positive change; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Members of the 2016-2017 class come from diverse |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | backgrounds, and they have combined their skills during the course |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of their training to plan and produce a community-betterment |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | project; the working relationships that they have created will |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | also give them the skills necessary to support the leaders of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | future; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Participants in Leadership Athens are concerned |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | citizens who have shown outstanding leadership abilities and are |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | committed to working with others toward the common goal of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | building a better community, and the members of the 2016-2017 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | class can indeed take pride in their many accomplishments; now, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Leadership Athens |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Class of 2016-2017 for their commitment to community service and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | extend to them best wishes for continued success in all their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 29 | 29 | | this class as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
