                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 673
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the members of the Leadership Athens Class of 2016-2017
 for their commitment to the betterment of their community and for
 their contributions to Henderson County; and
 WHEREAS, Leadership Athens is a nine-month program that
 offers residents the opportunity to become more involved in the
 community; participants learn about local resources and
 challenges, and they forge relationships with community leaders
 so that they might better bring about positive change; and
 WHEREAS, Members of the 2016-2017 class come from diverse
 backgrounds, and they have combined their skills during the course
 of their training to plan and produce a community-betterment
 project; the working relationships that they have created will
 also give them the skills necessary to support the leaders of the
 future; and
 WHEREAS, Participants in Leadership Athens are concerned
 citizens who have shown outstanding leadership abilities and are
 committed to working with others toward the common goal of
 building a better community, and the members of the 2016-2017
 class can indeed take pride in their many accomplishments; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Leadership Athens
 Class of 2016-2017 for their commitment to community service and
 extend to them best wishes for continued success in all their
 endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 this class as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
