| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas A&M University equestrian team, which has won |

| 4 | 4 | | the 2017 National Collegiate Equestrian Association national |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | championship; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The fifth-seeded Aggies won their 12th national |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | title, and first since 2012, by defeating Texas Christian |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | University by a score of 16-0 in the semifinal round and the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | University of Georgia by a score of 11-5 in the final; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Aggies began the semifinals with 4-0 shutouts |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | by the reining and equitation over fences teams, and the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | horsemanship and equitation on the flat squads finished the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | sweep; the University of Georgia provided a stiffer test, but the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Aggies took an early 3-1 lead on the flat, led 6-2 after |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | horsemanship, clinched the title by winning three matches in the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | reining event, and added victories over fences to complete the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | meet; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Under the exceptional leadership of head coach |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Tana McKay, the Aggies have developed exceptional teamwork and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | discipline; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Texans in College Station and across the state are |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | proud of the Texas A&M University team members for their hard |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | work and their impressive skills; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Texas A&M |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | University equestrian team on winning the 2017 National |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Collegiate Equestrian Association national championship; and, be |
