| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Emily Irene Hamrick Harding, who celebrated the joyous |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | occasion of her 93rd birthday on October 2, 2016; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Emily Irene Hamrick was born on October 2, 1923; |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | she married Jack Clayton Harding in 1945, and they were blessed |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | with three children; they were married for 39 years until |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Mr. Harding's death in 1984; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Harding family moved from Illinois to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Brownsville in the summer of 1961; in the early 1980s, Irene |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | planted bluebonnet seeds in her front flower beds, and within a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | couple of years, the flowers covered her entire front yard; the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Brownsville Herald has twice featured her yard in front-page |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | stories, and today she is locally known as "The Bluebonnet |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Queen"; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Irene is an avid cook and baker, and she has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | passed down her culinary skills to her three daughters-in-law |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and her four grandchildren; she has also been blessed with five |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | great-grandchildren, who are a source of immense pride and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | joy; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Irene Harding has been noted |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for her kindness, her spirited personality, and her enthusiasm |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for living life to the fullest; she is a well-known citizen in her |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | community and is much beloved by her family and many friends; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Emily Irene Hamrick Harding as a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | treasured citizen of Texas and congratulate her on her 93rd |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | birthday; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
