                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 68
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Emily Irene Hamrick Harding, who celebrated the joyous
 occasion of her 93rd birthday on October 2, 2016; and
 WHEREAS, Emily Irene Hamrick was born on October 2, 1923;
 she married Jack Clayton Harding in 1945, and they were blessed
 with three children; they were married for 39 years until
 Mr. Harding's death in 1984; and
 WHEREAS, The Harding family moved from Illinois to
 Brownsville in the summer of 1961; in the early 1980s, Irene
 planted bluebonnet seeds in her front flower beds, and within a
 couple of years, the flowers covered her entire front yard; the
 Brownsville Herald has twice featured her yard in front-page
 stories, and today she is locally known as "The Bluebonnet
 Queen"; and
 WHEREAS, Irene is an avid cook and baker, and she has
 passed down her culinary skills to her three daughters-in-law
 and her four grandchildren; she has also been blessed with five
 great-grandchildren, who are a source of immense pride and
 joy; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Irene Harding has been noted
 for her kindness, her spirited personality, and her enthusiasm
 for living life to the fullest; she is a well-known citizen in her
 community and is much beloved by her family and many friends;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby recognize Emily Irene Hamrick Harding as a
 treasured citizen of Texas and congratulate her on her 93rd
 birthday; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 her honor.
