| 5 | 5 | | jobs that facilitate growth, enhance wealth, and provide a stable |

|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Sherman Economic Development Corporation is |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | engaged in local, regional, state, and federal governments, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | public-private partnerships, workforce development programs, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | chambers of commerce, independent school districts, and higher |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | education institutions to foster an attractive business climate |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and to meet the increasing need for a skilled workforce; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Sherman Economic Development Corporation |

| 14 | 14 | | works with industries, real estate professionals, the Dallas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Regional Chamber, and Governor Greg Abbott's Office of Economic |

| 16 | 16 | | Development and Tourism to attract and retain high-quality jobs, |

| 17 | 17 | | develop a vibrant community, and improve the quality of life in |

| 18 | 18 | | Grayson County and throughout North Texas; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Sherman Economic Development Corporation, in |

| 20 | 20 | | partnership with the International Economic Development Council, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | is celebrating the second National Economic Development Week by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | hosting appreciation events for local industries and community |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | partners, as well as by promoting the weeklong event and its |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | purpose through a variety of media platforms; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize the week of May 8 through 13, 2017, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | as Economic Development Week in Sherman, Texas, and remind |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | individuals of the importance of this community celebration, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | which supports the expansion of career opportunities and quality |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of life improvement; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the |
