SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 718
WHEREAS, The City of Sherman and the Sherman Economic
Development Corporation promote economic well-being and quality
of life for its community by creating, retaining, and expanding
jobs that facilitate growth, enhance wealth, and provide a stable
tax base; and
WHEREAS, The Sherman Economic Development Corporation is
engaged in local, regional, state, and federal governments,
public-private partnerships, workforce development programs,
chambers of commerce, independent school districts, and higher
education institutions to foster an attractive business climate
and to meet the increasing need for a skilled workforce; and
WHEREAS, The Sherman Economic Development Corporation
works with industries, real estate professionals, the Dallas
Regional Chamber, and Governor Greg Abbott's Office of Economic
Development and Tourism to attract and retain high-quality jobs,
develop a vibrant community, and improve the quality of life in
Grayson County and throughout North Texas; and
WHEREAS, The Sherman Economic Development Corporation, in
partnership with the International Economic Development Council,
is celebrating the second National Economic Development Week by
hosting appreciation events for local industries and community
partners, as well as by promoting the weeklong event and its
purpose through a variety of media platforms; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby recognize the week of May 8 through 13, 2017,
as Economic Development Week in Sherman, Texas, and remind
individuals of the importance of this community celebration,
which supports the expansion of career opportunities and quality
of life improvement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
Sherman Economic Development Corporation and the International
Economic Development Council as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
