| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre of San Antonio was named |

| 3 | 3 | | the 2015-2016 Middle School Counselor of the Year by the South |

| 4 | 4 | | Texas Counseling Association; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre worked as an elementary |

| 6 | 6 | | school counselor before taking on her current role counseling |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | eighth graders at Hector Garcia Middle School; during her tenure, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | she has fostered strong relationships with students, parents, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | faculty, and staff and coordinated events across the Northside |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated advocate for children has |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | distinguished herself through her efforts to help her school earn |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | a No Place for Hate designation from the Anti-Defamation League, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | including organizing a Kindness Rally and raising awareness on |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | how to combat bias, bullying, and intolerance; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Through her hard work and professionalism, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre has helped empower young people to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | recognize and build on their strengths as they strive to achieve |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | their full potential, and she is truly an asset to both the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Northside Independent School District and the wider community; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre on her |

| 24 | 24 | | selection as the South Texas Counseling Association 2015-2016 |
