SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 769
WHEREAS, Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre of San Antonio was named
the 2015-2016 Middle School Counselor of the Year by the South
Texas Counseling Association; and
WHEREAS, Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre worked as an elementary
school counselor before taking on her current role counseling
eighth graders at Hector Garcia Middle School; during her tenure,
she has fostered strong relationships with students, parents,
faculty, and staff and coordinated events across the Northside
Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated advocate for children has
distinguished herself through her efforts to help her school earn
a No Place for Hate designation from the Anti-Defamation League,
including organizing a Kindness Rally and raising awareness on
how to combat bias, bullying, and intolerance; and
WHEREAS, Through her hard work and professionalism,
Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre has helped empower young people to
recognize and build on their strengths as they strive to achieve
their full potential, and she is truly an asset to both the
Northside Independent School District and the wider community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre on her
selection as the South Texas Counseling Association 2015-2016
Middle School Counselor of the Year and extend to her sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Nanette Valdez-Yzaguirre as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
