SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 794 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Milton Fred Paul Fuchs on the grand occasion of his 90th birthday; and WHEREAS, A native of Burton, Texas, Milton Fuchs was born in his family's farmhouse on May 23, 1927, and he grew up working the farm alongside his parents and six siblings; his father, Robert A. Fuchs, served in the Texas House of Representatives for 17 years, and Milton served as a mascot for the chamber in 1937, the same year his father cosponsored the statewide soil and water conservation act; and WHEREAS, In 1948, Milton earned his bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from The University of Texas at Austin, and he went directly to work at the Humble Oil and Refining Company in Houston; he remained with the company as it transitioned to Enco, and then to Exxon, and he retired from the computer operations department after a distinguished 38-year career; and WHEREAS, Mr. Fuchs married the late Odea Lee Rives on March 24, 1956, and the couple shared 50 years of marriage; they were blessed with three children and with four grandchildren who are a source of immense pride and joy; and WHEREAS, Milton Fuchs is a cherished member of his community and a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he sang bass in the choir for many years; his birthday is indeed cause for celebration among his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby recognize Milton Fred Paul Fuchs as a treasured citizen of Texas and congratulate him on his 90th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
