| 3 | 3 | | School in Pecos demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the |

| 4 | 4 | | arts by organizing a quote-a-thon fund-raiser; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For the event, club members tasked themselves |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | with memorizing 20 quotations from Shakespeare's works, ranging |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | from one to eight lines, as well as with identifying the play, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | act, and scene in which each passage appears and the character |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | who spoke it; the students then had to correctly recite their |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | selections and answer questions on them, or else complete one lap |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of the school's track; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Participants solicited donations for the benefit, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and a portion of the event's proceeds helped to fund a trip for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the students to attend a performance of Larry Shue's The |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Foreigner at the Odessa College Globe Theater; the club also made |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a generous contribution to Texans for the Arts; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Under the guidance of club sponsor Michelle |

| 18 | 18 | | Taylor, the Crockett students who took part in the fund-raiser |

| 19 | 19 | | include Anjelica Mata, Courtney Hollon, Haley Hodges, Kaitlyn |

| 20 | 20 | | Loya, Jonathan Marquez, Louis Le, Gianna Rico, J'Lynn Estorga, |

| 21 | 21 | | Lauren Conger, Harvey Fuentes, and Adriel Carrasco; and |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through their efforts, these fine young Texans |

| 23 | 23 | | not only enhanced their knowledge of the arts but also helped |

| 24 | 24 | | to support vibrant arts communities across the Lone Star |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | State, and they are indeed deserving of special recognition; |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby recognize the members of the Crockett Middle |
