SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 822 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the James Earl Rudder High School boys' gymnastics team, which recently won the state championship title at the 51st Texas High School Gymnastics Coaches Association State Meet; and WHEREAS, At the meet, which was held at Permian High School in Odessa, the Rudder Rangers came from behind to clinch their second consecutive state championship; and WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the school year, and they can take pride in their outstanding performance; and WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head coach J. T. Fletcher, the Rangers have developed exceptional skill and discipline; and WHEREAS, Coach Fletcher's gymnastics program in the Bryan Independent School District has won 10 state championships over the years, and the 2017 title is the fourth for the program since its move to Rudder High School; and WHEREAS, The students and staff at Rudder High School and the members of the Bryan community are proud of the Rudder gymnasts for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the James Earl Rudder High School Rangers boys' gymnastics team on their successful season and congratulate them on winning the team championship at the 51st Texas High School Gymnastics Coaches Association State Meet; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
