SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 832
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Holly K. Stephens for her outstanding work as a
legislative intern in the office of Senator Royce West; and
WHEREAS, Holly Stephens graduated from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2016 with a bachelor of
arts degree in political science and a minor in education; she
has traveled to Uganda, Senegal, Australia, and New Zealand to
serve as an instructor and to study policy and education
systems; and
WHEREAS, As an intern in the senator's office, Holly played
an integral role in the success of "Team West"; her many
responsibilities included attending committee hearings and
summarizing the proceedings, primarily those of the Committees
on Education and Higher Education; she also researched,
analyzed, and provided feedback on bills, drafted questions for
floor debate, and spent time with constituents; and
WHEREAS, During her internship, Holly gained firsthand
knowledge of the governmental process and insight into the issues
facing our communities and our state, and she was an invaluable
asset to the staff in the office of Senator West; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Holly K. Stephens on her exemplary
work as a legislative intern for Senator Royce West and extend to
her best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
