| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Ruthie Ewers for her many contributions to Texas State |

| 4 | 4 | | Technical College and the people of the Rio Grande Valley; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruthie Ewers is a distinguished businesswoman, |

| 6 | 6 | | philanthropist, and community leader who has made countless |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | contributions to the region's quality of life; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, In 1974, she and her husband, Norbert Ewers, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | cofounded LEE Marketing, a door-to-door distribution and direct |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | mail services company; the firm was a pioneer in the mailing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | industry, and by 1997, it was a $25 million-a-year enterprise; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | its many notable clients included General Motors, Southwest |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Airlines, Universal Studios, and the Dallas Cowboys; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, She is active in a wide range of civic and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | charitable organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes, and Monica and Maggie's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | House; she has worked tirelessly to raise scholarship money for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | students attending Texas State Technical College, and she was |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | recently honored at the college's 12th Annual Noche de Gala |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Scholarship Fundraiser; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Ruthie Ewers has made a profound difference in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | lives of people across the Rio Grande Valley, and it is truly |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fitting that she receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Ruthie Ewers on her commitment to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | serving others and extend to her best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
