| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Paula Hardy on the occasion of the recent publication |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | of her memoir, Paula's Story; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Paula Hardy was born prematurely in June of 1956 |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | and diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth; she was not expected |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to live more than three days, and doctors informed her mother |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | that, if she did survive, she would suffer from developmental |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | delays and blindness; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Paula is now 60 years old; her eyesight and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | intellect are fully intact, and she lives happily at the Hilltop |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kerrville; although |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she has undergone countless surgeries and has never been able to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | walk, she has built a fulfilling life of purpose and has brought |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | light into the lives of countless people; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Paula's memoir chronicles 60 joyful years of hope |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and perseverance; the author recounts growing up with the loving |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | support of her mother and of her stepfather, who adopted Paula in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1969; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Paula has had many memorable experiences in her |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | life, and since moving to Hilltop Village almost a decade ago, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | she has developed a close group of cherished friends who fill her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | days with parties, dinner excursions, shopping trips, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | matinee movies; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Paula is a beloved member of her community, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | she thoroughly enjoys welcoming new residents and getting to know |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | them as neighbors and friends; her memoir is sure to engage |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | readers and to inspire them to truly live life to the fullest; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Paula Hardy as a treasured citizen |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of this state and congratulate her on the publication of Paula's |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Story; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
