| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |

| 3 | 3 | | cause for celebration, and Betty Bob Stewart Massey of Fort Worth |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | is marking this significant milestone in her life on July 30, |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, In 1965, Mrs. Massey moved from Oklahoma to Fort |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Worth with her husband, Claude, and their three children, Nelda, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Gary, and Nancy; she taught at Carter Park Elementary School and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | then worked at J. T. Stevens Elementary until her retirement in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1987; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Massey's fine family has grown to include |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; as a retired |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | elementary school teacher, she naturally taught each of them how |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to write in cursive; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Massey has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | dedicated herself to helping others win the battle against the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | disease, and she recently walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Cure for the 25th time; for many years, she ran a 5K almost |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | every weekend, often taking home the first place trophy as the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | only participant in her age category; she finally hung up her |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | running shoes at the age of 87 but remains very active; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Meeting life's challenges with resilience, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | optimism, and determination, Betty Massey is an inspiration to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | many people, and she holds a special place in the hearts of all |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | who are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Betty Bob Stewart Massey on the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
