| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize A. R. "Babe" Schwartz for his distinguished career in |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | public service and his many contributions to the state; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A. R. Schwartz served the people of the Texas Gulf |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Coast in the Texas House of Representatives from 1955 to 1959; in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1960, he was elected to the Texas Senate, where he served with |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | distinction for 21 years; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career in the legislature, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Senator Schwartz worked tirelessly to protect the state's beaches |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and coastal waters and to fight injustice wherever he found it; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | since retiring from the Texas Senate, he has worked as a lobbyist, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | advocating for a wide range of causes and organizations, and he has |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | continued to do so, even as he approaches his 91st birthday; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Senator Schwartz has received |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | invaluable support from his beloved wife of more than 60 years, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Marilyn Schwartz, who has graciously served at his side and has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | also rendered exceptional service to the Senate Ladies' Club and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Governor's Mansion; the love and devotion the two have shared |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | is truly an inspiration to all; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Senator Schwartz has been dedicated to making a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | difference in the lives of his fellow citizens for more than six |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | decades, and it is truly fitting that he receive special |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend A. R. "Babe" Schwartz on his many |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | years of outstanding service to the people of Texas and extend to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, |
|---|
