6 | 6 | | the passing of retired educator Elouise Jacquelyn Clark McLemore |

7 | 7 | | of Houston on May 20, 2017, at the age of 90; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of James L. Clark Sr. and Lola Belle |
---|
9 | 9 | | Robinson Clark, the former Elouise Clark was born in Sunnyside in |
---|
10 | 10 | | Waller County on November 6, 1926; she graduated as valedictorian |
---|
11 | 11 | | of Booker T. Washington High School in Houston and went on to |
---|
12 | 12 | | complete her bachelor's degree cum laude at Prairie View A&M |
---|
13 | 13 | | University; on December 21, 1947, she married her best friend, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Stephen Dan "SD" McLemore, and they became the proud parents of |
---|
15 | 15 | | five children, Darrizett, Allison, Jacquelyn, Stephen, and |
---|
16 | 16 | | Tracey; over the years, she knew the joy of welcoming into her |
---|
17 | 17 | | family six grandchildren, Chelette, Dequina, Stephen, Jimmy, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Nicole, and Justice, and four great-grandchildren, Kiera, Zara, |
---|
19 | 19 | | Daneea, and Stephen; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. McLemore began her 45-year career in |
---|
21 | 21 | | education in the Baytown public schools and later joined the |
---|
22 | 22 | | Houston Independent School District; in her classroom, she was a |
---|
23 | 23 | | force to be reckoned with, maintaining a calm, positive |
---|
24 | 24 | | environment for learning; she was dedicated to her students and |
---|
25 | 25 | | spent most of her evenings working with children to ensure that |
---|
26 | 26 | | they had fully grasped mathematical concepts and would retain |
---|
27 | 27 | | them; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A woman of strong faith, Mrs. McLemore was a |
---|
29 | 29 | | longtime member of Sheeler Memorial CME Church and gave |
---|
30 | 30 | | selflessly of her time and talents in numerous capacities, |
---|
31 | 31 | | including secretary of the Morning Glory Circle and the Epworth |
---|
32 | 32 | | League and lead soloist in the choir; she also developed |
---|
33 | 33 | | children's programs; in addition, she belonged to Metropolitan |
---|
34 | 34 | | CME Church and sang in its choir; she volunteered for three |
---|
35 | 35 | | decades as a member of Les Famille Social Club; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Elouise McLemore will be deeply missed, but |
---|
37 | 37 | | memories of her grace, generosity, warmth, and charm remain to |
---|
38 | 38 | | comfort and inspire those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Elouise Jacquelyn |
---|
41 | 41 | | Clark McLemore and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn |
---|
42 | 42 | | her passing; and, be it further |
---|
43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

44 | 44 | | her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
