55 WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with
66 the passing of retired educator Elouise Jacquelyn Clark McLemore
77 of Houston on May 20, 2017, at the age of 90; and
88 WHEREAS, The daughter of James L. Clark Sr. and Lola Belle
99 Robinson Clark, the former Elouise Clark was born in Sunnyside in
1010 Waller County on November 6, 1926; she graduated as valedictorian
1111 of Booker T. Washington High School in Houston and went on to
1212 complete her bachelor's degree cum laude at Prairie View A&M
1313 University; on December 21, 1947, she married her best friend,
1414 Stephen Dan "SD" McLemore, and they became the proud parents of
1515 five children, Darrizett, Allison, Jacquelyn, Stephen, and
1616 Tracey; over the years, she knew the joy of welcoming into her
1717 family six grandchildren, Chelette, Dequina, Stephen, Jimmy,
1818 Nicole, and Justice, and four great-grandchildren, Kiera, Zara,
1919 Daneea, and Stephen; and
2020 WHEREAS, Mrs. McLemore began her 45-year career in
2121 education in the Baytown public schools and later joined the
2222 Houston Independent School District; in her classroom, she was a
2323 force to be reckoned with, maintaining a calm, positive
2424 environment for learning; she was dedicated to her students and
2525 spent most of her evenings working with children to ensure that
2626 they had fully grasped mathematical concepts and would retain
2727 them; and
2828 WHEREAS, A woman of strong faith, Mrs. McLemore was a
2929 longtime member of Sheeler Memorial CME Church and gave
3030 selflessly of her time and talents in numerous capacities,
3131 including secretary of the Morning Glory Circle and the Epworth
3232 League and lead soloist in the choir; she also developed
3333 children's programs; in addition, she belonged to Metropolitan
3434 CME Church and sang in its choir; she volunteered for three
3535 decades as a member of Les Famille Social Club; and
3636 WHEREAS, Elouise McLemore will be deeply missed, but
3737 memories of her grace, generosity, warmth, and charm remain to
3838 comfort and inspire those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
4040 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Elouise Jacquelyn
4141 Clark McLemore and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn
4242 her passing; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4444 her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
4545 so in memory of Elouise McLemore.
