| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated financial institutions |

| 3 | 3 | | play a vital role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and |

| 4 | 4 | | one such enterprise, Gladewater National Bank, is celebrating |

| 5 | 5 | | its 35th anniversary in 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Recognizing a need for another locally based bank |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in their community, seven Gladewater business owners banded |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | together to establish the new institution; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Joe Jones, Curtis Bright, Roy Brown, Jack Earp, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Pete Hawthorne, Sonny Miller, and Sam Rankin laid all the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | groundwork for the bank, including filing the banking charter |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | application, conducting a thorough demographic and economic |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | survey of the region, raising $2 million in capital from 325 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | shareholders, and hiring skilled employees; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Gladewater National Bank welcomed its first |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | customer on May 7, 1982, and it celebrated its grand opening on |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | June 5 of that year with a chamber of commerce ribbon-cutting |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | ceremony; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In the years since, the bank has offered the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | residents of Gladewater and the surrounding region a full range |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of banking services through its main office on North Main Street |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and its convenience center on Broadway; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Gladewater National Bank has won the loyalty of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | many area residents while contributing to the prosperity of the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | local economy, and it is fitting that this notable institution be |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recognized for the valued service it provides to the community; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commemorate the 35th anniversary of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Gladewater National Bank and extend to its officers, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | shareholders, and employees sincere best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | success; and, be it further |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
