A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the appropriation of certain tax proceeds for the
repair, restoration, and permanent dry berthing of the Battleship
"Texas."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. (a) Out of the proceeds from the collection of
the taxes imposed by Chapter 151, Tax Code, on the sale, storage, or
use of sporting goods, as defined by Section 151.801, Tax Code,
$15,000,000 is transferred to the Texas parks and wildlife
conservation and capital account and is appropriated from that
account to the Parks and Wildlife Department for the state fiscal
year ending August 31, 2018, and $20,000,000 is transferred to the
Texas parks and wildlife conservation and capital account and is
appropriated from that account to the Parks and Wildlife Department
for the state fiscal year ending August 31, 2019. Money
appropriated to the Parks and Wildlife Department under this
section shall be used to repair, restore, and present to the public
in a permanent dry berth the Battleship "Texas."
(b) This Act expires September 1, 2019.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
legislative session.
