9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 34, Health and Safety Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Section 34.0155 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 34.0155. MATERNAL HEALTH CARE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. | |
13 | 13 | The task force shall develop or oversee the development of a program | |
14 | 14 | to distribute maternal health care informational materials to | |
15 | 15 | health care providers in this state to standardize treatment | |
16 | 16 | protocols and improve the health care response for leading causes | |
17 | 17 | of preventable death among pregnant and postpartum women, including | |
18 | 18 | causes related to: | |
19 | 19 | (1) cardiac health conditions; | |
20 | 20 | (2) preeclampsia, eclampsia, and other hypertensive | |
21 | 21 | disorders; and | |
22 | 22 | (3) hemorrhage. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the | |
28 | 28 | legislative session. |
