| 10 | 10 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Section 7 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 7. (a) This state may not appropriate any money to an | |
| 14 | 14 | agency or political subdivision of this state to be expended for the | |
| 15 | 15 | performance of an elective abortion. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) To the extent allowed by federal law, money appropriated | |
| 17 | 17 | by this state to an agency or political subdivision of this state | |
| 18 | 18 | may not be distributed to a person or entity that performs or | |
| 19 | 19 | assists in performing an elective abortion during the period for | |
| 20 | 20 | which the money is appropriated. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
| 22 | 22 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2018. | |
| 23 | 23 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
| 24 | 24 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment prohibiting the | |
| 25 | 25 | appropriation or distribution of state money for the performance of | |
| 26 | 26 | an elective abortion or to a person or entity that performs or | |
| 27 | 27 | assists in performing an elective abortion." |
