| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Rodrigo Estrada, a 2017 Fabens High School graduate, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious scholarship is awarded to high |

| 9 | 10 | | school seniors from low-income families who demonstrate academic |

| 10 | 11 | | excellence; recipients gain admission to some of the most selective |

| 11 | 12 | | universities in the country, with tuition and room and board fully |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | covered for four years; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Rodrigo Estrada graduated as valedictorian of his |

| 14 | 15 | | class at Fabens High School, and in addition to compiling an |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | impressive academic record, he distinguished himself by holding a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | host of leadership positions on campus; he served as president of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | his class, the National Speech and Debate Honor Society, the Tri-M |

| 18 | 19 | | Music Honor Society, the Current Events and Politics Club, and the |

| 19 | 20 | | National Social Studies Honor Society, and also as head drum major |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, An incoming freshman at the University of Chicago, |

| 22 | 23 | | Mr. Estrada plans to study political science and economics; after |

| 23 | 24 | | completing his education, he hopes to pursue a career as a human |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A most deserving recipient, Rodrigo Estrada has |

| 27 | 28 | | scholastic and personal goals, and he may indeed look forward to a |
