H.R. No. 132
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rodrigo Estrada, a 2017 Fabens High School graduate,
has been awarded a QuestBridge National College Match scholarship;
and
WHEREAS, This prestigious scholarship is awarded to high
school seniors from low-income families who demonstrate academic
excellence; recipients gain admission to some of the most selective
universities in the country, with tuition and room and board fully
covered for four years; and
WHEREAS, Rodrigo Estrada graduated as valedictorian of his
class at Fabens High School, and in addition to compiling an
impressive academic record, he distinguished himself by holding a
host of leadership positions on campus; he served as president of
his class, the National Speech and Debate Honor Society, the Tri-M
Music Honor Society, the Current Events and Politics Club, and the
National Social Studies Honor Society, and also as head drum major
for the marching band; and
WHEREAS, An incoming freshman at the University of Chicago,
Mr. Estrada plans to study political science and economics; after
completing his education, he hopes to pursue a career as a human
rights attorney; and
WHEREAS, A most deserving recipient, Rodrigo Estrada has
exhibited impressive drive and ability as he works toward his
scholastic and personal goals, and he may indeed look forward to a
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Rodrigo
Estrada on his receipt of a QuestBridge National College Match
scholarship and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Estrada as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
