R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Christina Castaños of the Socorro Independent
School District was named the 2018 Elementary Teacher of the Year by
the Region 19 Education Service Center on July 22, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The winners of these prestigious annual awards are
first nominated for consideration by their fellow faculty members,
and those who are subsequently chosen as district Teacher of the
Year become eligible for the regional honor; and
WHEREAS, Drawing on her more than 16 years of experience in
education, Ms. Castaños currently teaches fifth-grade English,
language arts, and reading at Purple Heart Elementary School in El
Paso; and
WHEREAS, Christina Castaños exemplifies the passion,
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Christina
Castaños on her selection as the 2018 Elementary Teacher of the Year
by the Region 19 Education Service Center and extend to her sincere
best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Castaños as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
