| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ben Harris concluded his service as a member of the |

| 6 | 7 | | Plano City Council in 2017, and the outstanding contributions made |

| 7 | 8 | | by this esteemed public servant indeed deserve special recognition; |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Plano, Mr. Harris was first |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | elected to represent Place 2 on the city council in 2009; during his |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | two terms in office, he focused his attention on such vital concerns |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | as public safety, economic development, and government |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | transparency, and he was named deputy mayor pro tempore in 2012; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Harris has given generously of his time and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | talents to the Leadership Plano Executive Board, the Plano Parks |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and Recreation Planning Board, and the Plano Chamber of Commerce |

| 17 | 18 | | Board of Directors; the chief operating officer for Medical City |

| 18 | 19 | | Las Colinas, he previously worked in the lieutenant governor's |

| 19 | 20 | | office; he holds a bachelor's degree in government from The |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in business |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | administration from Dallas Baptist University; in all his |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Abby, and he |

| 23 | 24 | | takes great pride in their two children, Lainey and Walker; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, By providing thoughtful leadership and effectively |

| 25 | 26 | | representing the interests of their constituents, city council |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | members strive each day to improve the quality of life in their |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | communities, and the laudable efforts of Ben Harris have helped to |

| 28 | 29 | | make Plano an even better place in which to live and work; now, |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
