H.R. No. 192 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Ben Harris concluded his service as a member of the Plano City Council in 2017, and the outstanding contributions made by this esteemed public servant indeed deserve special recognition; and WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Plano, Mr. Harris was first elected to represent Place 2 on the city council in 2009; during his two terms in office, he focused his attention on such vital concerns as public safety, economic development, and government transparency, and he was named deputy mayor pro tempore in 2012; and WHEREAS, Mr. Harris has given generously of his time and talents to the Leadership Plano Executive Board, the Plano Parks and Recreation Planning Board, and the Plano Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; the chief operating officer for Medical City Las Colinas, he previously worked in the lieutenant governor's office; he holds a bachelor's degree in government from The University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in business administration from Dallas Baptist University; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Abby, and he takes great pride in their two children, Lainey and Walker; and WHEREAS, By providing thoughtful leadership and effectively representing the interests of their constituents, city council members strive each day to improve the quality of life in their communities, and the laudable efforts of Ben Harris have helped to make Plano an even better place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Ben Harris for his service on the Plano City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Harris as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
