| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Angela Powell was elected to the Plano Independent |

| 6 | 7 | | School District Board of Trustees on May 6, 2017; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Plano school board work closely with |

| 8 | 9 | | parents, teachers, administrators, and other concerned citizens to |

| 9 | 10 | | foster a supportive and challenging environment at district |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | schools, and in so doing, they are helping to provide young Texans |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | with a strong academic foundation on which to build a bright and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | prosperous future; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Powell earned a bachelor's degree from Houston |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Baptist University and a master's degree in business administration |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | from the University of Dallas; she has held teaching positions at |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the collegiate level and has also worked as a substitute teacher; |

| 17 | 18 | | over the years, she has dedicated countless hours to the Plano ISD |

| 18 | 19 | | Council of PTAs, serving as chair for a number of committees, and |

| 19 | 20 | | she has further contributed her time and expertise to the local |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | community as a member of the Plano Photographic Traffic Signal |

| 21 | 22 | | Advisory Committee; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is of great importance |

| 23 | 24 | | to the future of our state, and as a newly elected trustee of Plano |

| 24 | 25 | | ISD, Angela Powell is setting an inspiring example of civic |
