H.R. No. 197
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Angela Powell was elected to the Plano Independent
School District Board of Trustees on May 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Plano school board work closely with
parents, teachers, administrators, and other concerned citizens to
foster a supportive and challenging environment at district
schools, and in so doing, they are helping to provide young Texans
with a strong academic foundation on which to build a bright and
prosperous future; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Powell earned a bachelor's degree from Houston
Baptist University and a master's degree in business administration
from the University of Dallas; she has held teaching positions at
the collegiate level and has also worked as a substitute teacher;
over the years, she has dedicated countless hours to the Plano ISD
Council of PTAs, serving as chair for a number of committees, and
she has further contributed her time and expertise to the local
community as a member of the Plano Photographic Traffic Signal
Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is of great importance
to the future of our state, and as a newly elected trustee of Plano
ISD, Angela Powell is setting an inspiring example of civic
engagement in support of this crucial endeavor; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Angela Powell
on her election to the Plano Independent School District Board of
Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Powell as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
