H.R. No. 236 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Jesús Roberto Rodríguez was named president of Texas Southmost College on July 20, 2017, and this appointment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, A highly regarded educator, Dr. Rodríguez served in administration at Lone Star College and Butler Community College before taking the helm of the Business Center of Excellence at Houston Community College in 2015; previously in his career, he served as executive director of the Maverick County Development Corporation and the Maquiladora Association of Acuña; and WHEREAS, This engaged civic leader has given generously of his time and talents as a member of the Andover, Wichita Hispanic, and Wichita Metro Chambers of Commerce as well as the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs Global Business Committee, the Kansas Council for Workforce Education, The Friendship Center, and many other worthy groups; he holds a bachelor's degree in management from Sam Houston State University, a master's degree in international trade from Texas A&M International University, and a doctorate in educational administration from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Dr. Rodríguez brings to his new post incisive leadership, deep experience in building community and business partnerships, and a passionate commitment to the cause of higher education and the mission of Texas Southmost College, and his vision for TSC promises to resonate throughout the Valley; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Jesús Roberto Rodríguez on his selection as president of Texas Southmost College and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Rodríguez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
