 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
 passing of John Benton Love of Mount Vernon on June 30, 2017, at the
 age of 69; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Glen Allan, Mississippi, John Love was
 born on September 10, 1947, to Robert and Lillian Love; after
 graduating from Greenville High School, he continued his education
 and ultimately earned his Ph.D. in educational psychology from
 Mississippi State University; he also answered his nation's call to
 duty by serving in the Mississippi Army National Guard; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Love enjoyed a rewarding career in education
 that included positions as an art teacher, coach, and principal at
 the secondary level in Mississippi; after relocating to Tyler, he
 spent more than a decade as a principal at Douglas and Andy Woods
 Elementary Schools before becoming director of the Discovery
 Science Place, where he oversaw the museum's creation and is
 credited with building a number of the exhibits that remain on
 display there; he later returned to academia and taught at
 Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Jarvis Christian
 College; in recent years, he dedicated himself to developing his
 craft as an artist; and
 WHEREAS, Committed to his local community, Dr. Love shared
 his time and talents with the Franklin County Historical
 Association and the Franklin County Arts Alliance; and
 WHEREAS, Although he will be greatly missed, John Love made a
 profound impact on countless young people through his contributions
 as an educator, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him
 will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
 of John Benton Love and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of
 his family: to his beloved Sandra Love; to his children,
 Christopher, Elissa, and Ben; to his grandchildren, Russell, Gray,
 Alison, Harper, August, Quentin, Morgan, and Niu Niu; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Love.
