| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Helping Hands for Housing of Richardson is providing |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On any given night, nearly 48,000 veterans can be |

| 10 | 11 | | 22 veterans take their own lives every day; in response to this |

| 11 | 12 | | urgent problem, Helping Hands for Housing was founded in 2015 by Tom |

| 12 | 13 | | Parris, who had long been involved in the residential real estate |

| 13 | 14 | | industry; with a particular focus on aiding those who have served |

| 14 | 15 | | since 9/11, this notable organization seeks to help homeless |

| 15 | 16 | | veterans secure affordable housing; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In fulfilling its mission, Helping Hands tackles |

| 17 | 18 | | homelessness using a variety of strategies, including building, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | rehabilitating, and managing homes and rental units and organizing |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | programs to promote homeownership and financial literacy; this |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | outstanding nonprofit also helps veterans and other homeless |

| 21 | 22 | | individuals to connect with job centers and to secure job training, |

| 22 | 23 | | and the group works to increase access to counseling services for |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | former members of the armed forces and their families; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to those |

| 25 | 26 | | brave men and women who have risked their all in defense of this |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | nation, and since its inception, Helping Hands for Housing has made |

| 27 | 28 | | a meaningful difference in the community by ensuring that local |

| 28 | 29 | | veterans receive the support they so richly deserve; now, |
