No. 350 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Charlene Seale of Amarillo has become the first nurse practitioner in Texas to receive full practice authority from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; and WHEREAS, In December 2016, the VA announced its decision to grant advanced practice registered nurses within its system the opportunity to practice to the full extent of their education, training, and certification, allowing them to independently perform certain health care functions that had previously required physician supervision; and WHEREAS, A native of Friona, Charlene Seale is a certified family nurse practitioner at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center in Amarillo, where she has spent the past five years of her nursing career, which spans nearly four decades; she holds a master's degree in nursing from West Texas A&M University and a doctor of nursing practice degree from Chamberlain University; and WHEREAS, By providing skillful and compassionate care, Charlene Seale has made a positive impact in the lives of countless veterans in the Lone Star State, and she is indeed deserving of recognition as she embarks on the next exciting chapter in her career; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Charlene Seale on becoming the first nurse practitioner in Texas to receive full practice authority from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Seale as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
