| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Isaac Saldivar of the Austin Fire Department has |

| 6 | 7 | | gone above and beyond the call of duty by raising donations in |

| 7 | 8 | | behalf of local residents whose home was destroyed in a devastating |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | fire on August 4, 2017; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, On that fateful day, Mr. Saldivar was among a group |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | of AFD crew members who responded to a fire at a house in Southeast |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Austin; the blaze caused an estimated $150,000 in damage and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | completely gutted the structure; the home's residents, Norma |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Guardado and her four young grandchildren, were unharmed but lost |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | their cat and nearly all of their belongings in the fire; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Determined to help the family, Mr. Saldivar |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | initiated a social media campaign to collect donations, and within |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | a matter of days, members of the community rallied together to |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | contribute gift cards, clothing, toys, books, food, and other |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | necessities; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In coming to the aid of his fellow citizens during |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | their time of need, Isaac Saldivar embodied the highest ideals of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | his profession, and his kind and selfless action is indeed |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Isaac Saldivar for |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | his efforts to assist a family following a house fire and extend to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
