| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Recent Crane High School graduate David Rombouts was |

| 8 | 9 | | Contest held in Austin and Pflugerville on May 27-29, 2017; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Each year, some 100,000 student-musicians from |

| 10 | 11 | | across Texas participate in the UIL solo and ensemble competition; |

| 11 | 12 | | in order to advance to the state contest, students must earn a |

| 12 | 13 | | Division I, or "superior," rating at the regional level, and in |

| 13 | 14 | | 2017, only 287 of the approximately 25,000 contestants who |

| 14 | 15 | | qualified for the state competition were selected as Outstanding |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, During the event, Mr. Rombouts played from memory a |

| 17 | 18 | | four-mallet marimba solo, "Strive to be Happy" by Ivan Trevino, and |

| 18 | 19 | | his exemplary performance of the piece also garnered him a Division |

| 19 | 20 | | I gold medal; while preparing for the contest, he benefited from the |

| 20 | 21 | | skilled guidance of band director Daniel Todd; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through his considerable ability, determination, |

| 22 | 23 | | and hard work, David Rombouts has proven himself to be one of the |

| 23 | 24 | | finest high school musicians in the Lone Star State, and it is a |

| 24 | 25 | | pleasure to recognize him for this notable achievement; now, |
