2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize Jose A. Bernal Sr. for more than 30 years of
4	4	outstanding service to his community and for his exceptionally
5	5	successful business; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Mr. Bernal is the owner of Star Plumbing Supply
7	7	Company, and he began serving the Brownsville community through
8	8	the plumbing business even before his company was established on
9	9	14th Street; he is a native of Brownsville and a 1973 graduate of
10	10	Brownsville High School; he attended Texas Southmost College,
11	11	where he earned an associate's degree in business; and
12	12	WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Lucila G. Bernal, whom he
13	13	met at a dance, were married on June 28, 1986; Mrs. Bernal is a
14	14	native of Los Fresnos and a 1975 graduate of Los Fresnos High
15	15	School; she earned an associate's degree in education from Texas
16	16	Southmost College and a bachelor's degree in general and special
17	17	education, with minors in Spanish and psychology, from The
18	18	University of Texas at Austin; she completed 34 hours of
19	19	postgraduate work and is a retired special education teacher; and
20	20	WHEREAS, The couple has been blessed with a wonderful
21	21	family; their sons, Jose Angel Bernal Jr. and Gabriel Bernal, who
22	22	are twins, and their youngest son, Alejandro Bernal, have been a
23	23	source of great pride; Jose and Gabriel are enjoying careers in
24	24	business, and Alejandro will soon graduate from medical school
25	25	and pursue a career in medicine; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Mr. Bernal's siblings are Mike Bernal and Ofelia
27	27	B.Lopez;Mrs.Bernal'ssiblingsareManuelaG.Cortez,thelate
28	28	Carolina G. Gonzalez, the late Juan Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Abel
29	29	Garcia, the late Ruben Garcia, and Uvaldo Garcia; and
30	30	WHEREAS, Mr. Bernal has many interests, and his hobbies
31	31	include fishing, working in his garden, and riding his horses,
32	32	Cross Fire Joe, Bella Jet, and Sandy; he enjoys spending time
33	33	with family, and his dog, Red, provides him with exceptional
34	34	companionship; he and Mrs. Bernal enjoy dancing and going to the
35	35	movies, and they are active in their church, where he is studying
36	36	to become a deacon with the Diocese of Brownsville; and
37	37	WHEREAS, Jose A. Bernal Sr. is respected for his
38	38	accomplishments and for his many contributions to his
39	39	community, and it is truly fitting that he receive special
40	40	recognition; now, therefore, be it
41	41	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
42	42	Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Jose A. Bernal
43	43	Sr. on his many achievements and his service to the citizens of
44	44	Brownsville and extend to him best wishes for continued success
45	45	in all his endeavors; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
47	47	him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
