                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 112
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Jose A. Bernal Sr. for more than 30 years of
 outstanding service to his community and for his exceptionally
 successful business; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Bernal is the owner of Star Plumbing Supply
 Company, and he began serving the Brownsville community through
 the plumbing business even before his company was established on
 14th Street; he is a native of Brownsville and a 1973 graduate of
 Brownsville High School; he attended Texas Southmost College,
 where he earned an associate's degree in business; and
 WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Lucila G. Bernal, whom he
 met at a dance, were married on June 28, 1986; Mrs. Bernal is a
 native of Los Fresnos and a 1975 graduate of Los Fresnos High
 School; she earned an associate's degree in education from Texas
 Southmost College and a bachelor's degree in general and special
 education, with minors in Spanish and psychology, from The
 University of Texas at Austin; she completed 34 hours of
 postgraduate work and is a retired special education teacher; and
 WHEREAS, The couple has been blessed with a wonderful
 family; their sons, Jose Angel Bernal Jr. and Gabriel Bernal, who
 are twins, and their youngest son, Alejandro Bernal, have been a
 source of great pride; Jose and Gabriel are enjoying careers in
 business, and Alejandro will soon graduate from medical school
 and pursue a career in medicine; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Bernal's siblings are Mike Bernal and Ofelia
 B.Lopez;Mrs.Bernal'ssiblingsareManuelaG.Cortez,thelate
 Carolina G. Gonzalez, the late Juan Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Abel
 Garcia, the late Ruben Garcia, and Uvaldo Garcia; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Bernal has many interests, and his hobbies
 include fishing, working in his garden, and riding his horses,
 Cross Fire Joe, Bella Jet, and Sandy; he enjoys spending time
 with family, and his dog, Red, provides him with exceptional
 companionship; he and Mrs. Bernal enjoy dancing and going to the
 movies, and they are active in their church, where he is studying
 to become a deacon with the Diocese of Brownsville; and
 WHEREAS, Jose A. Bernal Sr. is respected for his
 accomplishments and for his many contributions to his
 community, and it is truly fitting that he receive special
 recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Jose A. Bernal
 Sr. on his many achievements and his service to the citizens of
 Brownsville and extend to him best wishes for continued success
 in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
