| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize State Trooper Michael Black, who is retiring from the |

| 4 | 4 | | Texas Department of Public Safety after 25 years of exemplary |

| 5 | 5 | | service with the Texas Highway Patrol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Michael Black is a graduate of Lyndon B. Johnson |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | High School in Austin; a veteran of the United States Navy, he |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | served the nation with distinction for six years before beginning |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a career in state law enforcement; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Black has enjoyed the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | love and support of his wife, LuFanda, and their children, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Tremeka, Shimere, Tiffany, and Michael; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Trooper Black is retiring from Texas Highway |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Patrol Region VII, which serves the Texas State Capitol complex; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | he is a beloved figure who is known throughout the Capitol for his |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | friendly smile and his warm interactions with legislators and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | visitors, and he takes great pride in his service as a member of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Honor Guard; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Michael Black |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | has exemplified the highest ideals of a state trooper and has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | manifested uncommon talent in managing the far-reaching |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | responsibilities of his position; he is respected and admired by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | his colleagues and by the citizens he serves, and his presence at |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the Capitol will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend State Trooper |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Michael Black on his outstanding career with the Texas Department |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | of Public Safety and on his many contributions to the state and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to him best wishes for further success in all his future |
|---|
