SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize State Trooper Michael Black, who is retiring from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 25 years of exemplary service with the Texas Highway Patrol; and WHEREAS, Michael Black is a graduate of Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Austin; a veteran of the United States Navy, he served the nation with distinction for six years before beginning a career in state law enforcement; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Black has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, LuFanda, and their children, Tremeka, Shimere, Tiffany, and Michael; and WHEREAS, Trooper Black is retiring from Texas Highway Patrol Region VII, which serves the Texas State Capitol complex; he is a beloved figure who is known throughout the Capitol for his friendly smile and his warm interactions with legislators and visitors, and he takes great pride in his service as a member of the Honor Guard; and WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Michael Black has exemplified the highest ideals of a state trooper and has manifested uncommon talent in managing the far-reaching responsibilities of his position; he is respected and admired by his colleagues and by the citizens he serves, and his presence at the Capitol will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend State Trooper Michael Black on his outstanding career with the Texas Department of Public Safety and on his many contributions to the state and extend to him best wishes for further success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
