| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Hope Haven of East Texas is celebrating the |

| 3 | 3 | | grand opening of its long-term foster home in Lindale on |

| 4 | 4 | | August 18, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Founded by Lisa Ferguson, Hope Haven of East Texas |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | is a nonprofit organization that partners with local churches, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | families, and members of the community to assist girls in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | foster care system; in addition to offering spiritual guidance, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Hope Haven sponsors a range of programs, including horse therapy, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | career shadowing, and college mentorship, with the goal of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | preparing the girls for the challenges and opportunities of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | adulthood; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Located on 6.4 acres, the newly constructed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 6,400-square-foot home will house up to 16 girls between the ages |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of 13 and 17 and features ample residential and living quarters |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in addition to a counseling office and staff areas; the facility |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | is intended to provide a more stable and beneficial living |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | arrangement for youth who have previously been shuffled from |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | place to place in the foster care system; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Hope Haven foster home will serve as a safe and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | nurturing environment for some of the most vulnerable members of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | our society, and all those involved in bringing this project to |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fruition may take pride in a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the grand |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | opening of the Hope Haven of East Texas long-term foster home and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend to the Hope Haven staff sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Hope Haven of East Texas as an expression of high regard from the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Texas Senate. |
