SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 146 WHEREAS, Hope Haven of East Texas is celebrating the grand opening of its long-term foster home in Lindale on August 18, 2017; and WHEREAS, Founded by Lisa Ferguson, Hope Haven of East Texas is a nonprofit organization that partners with local churches, families, and members of the community to assist girls in the foster care system; in addition to offering spiritual guidance, Hope Haven sponsors a range of programs, including horse therapy, career shadowing, and college mentorship, with the goal of preparing the girls for the challenges and opportunities of adulthood; and WHEREAS, Located on 6.4 acres, the newly constructed 6,400-square-foot home will house up to 16 girls between the ages of 13 and 17 and features ample residential and living quarters in addition to a counseling office and staff areas; the facility is intended to provide a more stable and beneficial living arrangement for youth who have previously been shuffled from place to place in the foster care system; and WHEREAS, The Hope Haven foster home will serve as a safe and nurturing environment for some of the most vulnerable members of our society, and all those involved in bringing this project to fruition may take pride in a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the grand opening of the Hope Haven of East Texas long-term foster home and extend to the Hope Haven staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Hope Haven of East Texas as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
