| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Thelma Lee Burditt Ivison on the joyous occasion of her |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | 100th birthday; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Thelma Burditt was born on September 22, 1917, in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Scurry County, Texas; she graduated from Snyder High School in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1936 and earned a nursing degree from King's Daughters Hospital |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | in Temple in 1939; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, She married Ira Truman Ivison on December 9, 1939, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and they were blessed with two daughters and a son; they were |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | married for more than 41 years, until Mr. Ivison passed away in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1981; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Ivison guided her family by loving example; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | generous and nurturing, she always helped to care for family |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | members in times of illness; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, When her children began to build lives of their |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | own, she initially went to work in a coffee factory; she later |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | worked as a cook for a day care center and as an assembly line |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | worker at a house shoe company; she also learned to play the bass |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | guitar and played with a senior citizens' band that performed at |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | weekly senior dances, nursing homes, and weddings; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Today, Thelma Ivison continues to drive her own car |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and to manage her own finances, and she still cares for her home and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | one-acre property outside of Odessa; she is a strong, loving, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fiercely independent woman who is beloved throughout the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | community, and her 100th birthday is indeed cause for celebration |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | among her many friends and loved ones; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Thelma Lee |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Burditt Ivison as a treasured citizen of the Lone Star State |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and extend to her congratulations on her 100th birthday; and, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | her as a memento of this very special day. |
