| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt |

| 6 | 6 | | at the loss of Jana Graves Kennedy of Paris, Texas, who passed |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | away on May 20, 2017, at the age of 54; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The beloved daughter of Faye and James Graves, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | former Jana Graves was born in Paris on August 14, 1962, and she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | grew up with the companionship of her sister, Jeri, and her |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | brother, Russell; after graduating from North Lamar High School |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | in 1980, she attended Texas A&M University on a track scholarship |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1985, she married Mike Kennedy, and the couple |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | became the proud parents of three children, Kara, Cole, and Kyle; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the family first made their home in Texarkana before settling in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Paris; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Jana Kennedy enjoyed a rewarding |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | career in education and held teaching positions at elementary |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | schools in the Pleasant Grove, North Lamar, and Paris Independent |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | School Districts; committed to her local community, she further |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | gave of her time and talents by supporting cancer patients |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | through the Angel Fund and by helping children in need at |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Watersprings Ranch; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Jana Kennedy immeasurably enriched the lives of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | all who were fortunate enough to know her, and those she has left |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | behind will long cherish their memories of her generosity, her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | gentle spirit, and her boundless devotion to her family and her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | faith; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of Jana Graves Kennedy and extend heartfelt sympathy to her |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | family and many friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 35 | 35 | | her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
