| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 3 | 3 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Burgie and Sher |

| 4 | 4 | | Thompson celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |

| 5 | 5 | | June 3, 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, While serving as a sergeant in the United States |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Marine Corps, Burgie Thompson began dating the former Sher |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Kellogg, a beauty school student; they were joined in matrimony |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | in 1967, and over the years, the couple have been blessed with a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | treasured family that includes their two daughters, Wyndi and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Staci, as well as their five grandchildren, Karlee, Kynzi, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Kamren, Blake, and Koby; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Valued members of the Powderly community, Mr. and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Mrs. Thompson have lived in the area for the past two decades; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Mr. Thompson had a successful career with Yellow Freight |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Trucking before attending Southwestern Baptist Theological |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Seminary and devoting his life to the ministry, and today he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | serves as pastor of Sawyer Baptist Church in southern Oklahoma; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Mrs. Thompson holds a master's degree in teaching and worked in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the North Lamar Independent School District; in her retirement, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | she has focused her attention on her family as well as the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | congregation at Sawyer Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have enjoyed a half century |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Burgie and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Sher Thompson on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
