| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Jay Holland, who died May 24, 2017, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 68; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jay Holland was an exemplary citizen who was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | widely respected and admired in the Abilene community for his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | many achievements; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Sue Ann, were blessed with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | a daughter, Ashley, and two grandchildren, Jason and Evan; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Holland worked for more than three decades |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with the West Texas Rehabilitation Center; a skilled |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | audiologist, he served the center in a variety of roles; he was |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | director of Audiology, director of Treatment Services, vice |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | president of Development, and chief operations officer; he later |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | managed a group of physicians at the Abilene Diagnostic Clinic |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | before joining his wife in audiology at the Holland Hearing |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Center in 2008; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, He was active with a wide range of philanthropic |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | organizations, including Ben Richey Boy's Ranch, Disability |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Resources, and Global Samaritan Resources; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Noted for his strength, wisdom, and unfailing |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | kindness, he gave generously to others, and his compassion, his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | keen sense of humor, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fullest will not be forgotten; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | to the bereaved family of Jay Holland; and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | memory of Jay Holland. |
