SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 37 In Memory of Jay Holland WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Jay Holland, who died May 24, 2017, at the age of 68; and WHEREAS, Jay Holland was an exemplary citizen who was widely respected and admired in the Abilene community for his many achievements; and WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Sue Ann, were blessed with a daughter, Ashley, and two grandchildren, Jason and Evan; and WHEREAS, Mr. Holland worked for more than three decades with the West Texas Rehabilitation Center; a skilled audiologist, he served the center in a variety of roles; he was director of Audiology, director of Treatment Services, vice president of Development, and chief operations officer; he later managed a group of physicians at the Abilene Diagnostic Clinic before joining his wife in audiology at the Holland Hearing Center in 2008; and WHEREAS, He was active with a wide range of philanthropic organizations, including Ben Richey Boy's Ranch, Disability Resources, and Global Samaritan Resources; and WHEREAS, Noted for his strength, wisdom, and unfailing kindness, he gave generously to others, and his compassion, his keen sense of humor, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Jay Holland; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jay Holland.
