| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Maria T. Gutierrez for her years of civic leadership |

| 4 | 4 | | and her many contributions to her community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gutierrez is a beloved resident of the Rio |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Grande Valley, and she has worked diligently on behalf of the City |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Raymondville, Willacy County, and the larger community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated public servant helped guide the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | City of Raymondville by serving as commissioner for 16 years; she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | has served on the boards of numerous charitable and civic |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | organizations, including those of Su Clinica Familiar, Foster |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Grandparents, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Amigos Del |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Valle; she is also a former member of the Lower Rio Grande Valley |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Development Council; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Currently, Mary Gutierrez serves on the boards of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Willacy County Child Welfare, the Raymondville Chamber of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Commerce, the Willacy County Emergency Service District, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Cops-for-Tots, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; she is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | also a member of Communities Against Substance Abuse; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mary Gutierrez exemplifies the highest ideals of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | public service, and she has been recognized on numerous occasions |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for her tireless spirit of volunteerism; she has most recently |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | been honored as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year by the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Raymondville Chamber of Commerce; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Maria T. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Gutierrez for her exemplary service to her community and extend |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | to her best wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 30 | 30 | | her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
