SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 44 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Maria T. Gutierrez for her years of civic leadership and her many contributions to her community; and WHEREAS, Mary Gutierrez is a beloved resident of the Rio Grande Valley, and she has worked diligently on behalf of the City of Raymondville, Willacy County, and the larger community; and WHEREAS, This dedicated public servant helped guide the City of Raymondville by serving as commissioner for 16 years; she has served on the boards of numerous charitable and civic organizations, including those of Su Clinica Familiar, Foster Grandparents, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Amigos Del Valle; she is also a former member of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council; and WHEREAS, Currently, Mary Gutierrez serves on the boards of Willacy County Child Welfare, the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce, the Willacy County Emergency Service District, Cops-for-Tots, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program; she is also a member of Communities Against Substance Abuse; and WHEREAS, Mary Gutierrez exemplifies the highest ideals of public service, and she has been recognized on numerous occasions for her tireless spirit of volunteerism; she has most recently been honored as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year by the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Maria T. Gutierrez for her exemplary service to her community and extend to her best wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
