SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 49
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Eloisa R. Hernandez on the grand occasion of her 100th
birthday; and
WHEREAS, A woman of great charm and grace, Eloisa Hernandez
is well known for her generosity of spirit, and she is a revered
citizen of our state; and
WHEREAS, She was born August 26, 1917, in Brownsville, to
Tiburcio and Petra Rodriguez; she married Antonio Hernandez on
February 21, 1937, and the couple was blessed with eight
children; her 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 17
great-great-grandchildren have been a source of much pride and
joy for her; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hernandez held several jobs as a young woman
before devoting herself full-time to her growing family; she has
throughout her life been a passionate gardener and still enjoys
her many plants; and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practices her faith in her
daily life, she is a longtime member of Templo Emmanuel Assembly
of God, and she regularly reads her Bible in the evenings; and
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
Mrs. Hernandez is noted for her warmth, her wit, and her wise
counsel, and she inspires those around her with her enthusiasm
for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to Eloisa R.
Hernandez and extend to her best wishes for a memorable 100th
birthday celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this milestone in her life.
